Sometimes, you just know what you want to be when you grow up. In 10th grade I decided to get over my shyness and teach. I wanted to teach overseas, to teach juvenile prisoners, to work in a low-income rural school, eventually returning home to teach in suburbia when I was ready to start my family. Most dreams came true.
I love being a teacher, the intellectual discussions, and impacting students beyond just the curriculum. I actually like these people!
About this blog
After teaching 30-ish years I have opinions (and tenure) and it's time to say what's on my mind about educational issues, teaching challenges, and what will best serve students. I'm aware my school is unique, yet we deal with many of the same things I've observed and experienced in other schools, other communities. I think we've a lot to talk about together.
